What happened

Draft for review. Not published.

Five quiet hours, then a run

SGRX opened at $0.407 and drifted to a low of $0.37 at 12:53 p.m. Many minutes passed with no trades at all. The news list shows nothing before the run.

Volume built through the afternoon. By 3:21 p.m. it was at $0.97, and over 900K shares traded in that minute alone.

Two halts and the top

At 3:22:23 it was halted on a volatility pause. It reopened at 3:27:23 and pushed to $1.11, the high of the day, at 3:28 p.m. Within that same minute it traded back down to $0.9559.

At 3:29:39 it was halted again; the minute's last price was $0.86. It reopened at 3:34:39 at $0.9799, about 14% above that, then sold off to $0.9324 that minute.

A last push at 3:35 reached $1.00, under the $1.11 top. It faded from there and closed at $0.7282, 34% under the high.

After the bell

After hours it jumped from $0.7281 to $0.9 within two minutes of 4:00 p.m. and traded as high as $1.10 at 4:23 p.m. A 6-K was filed at 4:30 p.m. The stock opened that minute at $0.9149 and touched $1.05.

It then slid, and by 5:17 p.m. it had traded as low as $0.5388. The regular session saw 20M shares, against a float of 3.5M.

What to take from it: Hours of quiet near $0.38 told nothing about the afternoon: the run, both halts and a 34% fade from the high all came within about an hour and a half.

On the day's lists: the intraday runners. It is here because it was in play on the intraday runners: up 30% or more on $3 million or more really traded, outside the small-cap rule's price, relative volume or float, its high reached $1 or more and it started the day at $20 or under (the rule every page uses).
